Bessie Lee Mahe, 87, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on June 22, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 1:30-2:30 PM at the funeral home.
Bessie was born on February 7, 1933 in Albany, Georgia. She was a military wife and lived in Germany and England and traveled to many places such as Puerto Rice and across the United States, all while raising her children. Her favorite place to travel to was Switzerland. After her husband’s retirement they resided in Jeffersonville, IN where Bessie was employed by Feeder’s Supply, did demos for grocery stores, and worked at a laundry mat where she did laundry for many people including the CEO of Papa Johns. After her husband’s death in 2018, Bessie lived with family in Kentucky. At the end of her life she was cared for by the wonderful staff at Middlesboro nursing and rehabilitation center on New Wilson Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Beulah McDonald; seven siblings, Fred, Louise, Nan, Gladys, Lebo, Leonard, Daryl; her husband, Billy Mahe; and her daughter, Lynnette Mahe.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Melody and husband Doug Hammontree; her son, Kenneth Mahe in Hawaii; grandchildren, William and Holly Hammontree, Joseph and Katy Hammontree, Seth and Tina Hammontree, Isaac and Shannon Hammontree; fifteen great grandchildren, Laiken Hammontree, Kaitlyn Hammontree, Willow Hammontree, Sydni Hammontree, Mary Kate Smith, Luke Hammontree, Levi Hammontree, Seth Miller, Riley Miller, Aiden Hammontree, Noah Hammontree, Laney Hammontree, Gracie Hammontree, Jordan Collins, Micah Hammontree; and special friends, Blake Sexton, Brother William Brahman, Brother Billy Paul and Brother Joseph and all family, Sister Rebecca and Sister Sarah, Sister Nancy Lewis and her lovely big family, and all the Saints of Branham Tabernacle and from around the world.
