Mary Ellen (Ingerman) Rylee

December 20, 1946 ~ November 6, 2020 (age 73)

Mary Ellen (Ingerman) Rylee passed away peacefully in Jeffersonville, IN on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 73. Her husband and daughter were at her side. Mary Ellen, nicknamed “Trell” by her family and closest friends, was born in Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Marie (Bureta) Ingerman.

She was the loving sister of Douglas Ingerman and Janice Ingerman, wife to John Rylee and loving mother to Lindsey Rylee. In addition to her husband John and daughter Lindsey, she is also survived by a stepdaughter (Michelle Buechter and husband Paul), stepson (Michael Rylee, and wife Susan), four step grandchildren (Ryan Gibbs, Rachel Gibbs, Luke Rylee and Logan Rylee) plus many special cousins and friends.

In 1964, Mary Ellen graduated from Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, WI. She received a B.A. degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Wisconsin. Mary Ellen loved to dance and listening to the rock and roll music of the 50's and 60's! She was a lifelong fan of NFL football, especially the Green Bay Packers-GO PACK!, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. She also loved driving her classic MG sports car in annual SCA races in Elkhart Lake, WI.

She also was as a culinary entrepreneur in the 60’s and 70’s by creating her own recipes for Trell’s Mexican pizza and Irish creme liqueur, which she sold to local restaurants and bars in South Milwaukee and for gifts to friends. She enjoyed a successful business career in the long-term investment and financial industries with companies such as Blunt Ellis & Loewi, Strong Capital Management and Massachusetts Financial Services.

Then in 1988, totally by accident, Mary Ellen met John at a local Milwaukee eatery while she was waiting for a girlfriend. That friend came in and spotted a former boyfriend having drinks with John and went over to talk with him. Her friend waved to Mary Ellen to join them at the bar bringing the two groups together…and the love story began. It was “love at first sight” for both John and Mary Ellen. The couple married in 1989 beginning their 31-year marriage.

In 1991, Mary Ellen and John were blessed with the birth of their daughter Lindsey. In 2000, the family relocated to Jeffersonville, IN where she passed away on Nov. 6th of this year.

She will be remembered during an upcoming mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, IN. Mary Ellen’s wishes were to be cremated and her remains buried beside her other family members in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, WI. Due to Covid 19, a gathering for friends and family will be held later in Wisconsin.
