Funeral services for William “Earl” Ellis, 87, of Jeffersonville, Indiana will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8 PM and after 9 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. He passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at his home.
Earl was born on October 16, 1932 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late John and Mamie Ellis. He retired from Bremner’s Biscuits where he worked many years as a line technician. Earl loved to take his travel trailer and go camping. He was quite the gardener and his flowers were always beautiful.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Ellis; and eight siblings, Jimmy Ellis, Charles Ellis, Raymond Ellis, Beulah Watson, Virgil Ellis, Johnny Ellis, Evelyn Kelly, and Kathleen Stone.
Earl is survived by his two sons, Steve Ellis (Traci), William “Bill” Ellis (Doris); one brother, Marvin Ellis; eleven grandchildren, Kenny Ellis (Kathy), Keisha Wolfe (David), Elise Ellis, Steven K. Ellis, Katelyn McIntosh, Stacey Salyers, Troyia Lewis, Elektra Brown, Sayer Brown, Noah Brown, Lindsey Chiles; twelve great grandchildren, Kassie Karr (Daniel), Katelyn Ellis, Jonny Ellis, Christina Amira, Zack Leach, Ryan Salyers, Megan Smith (Dalton), Paige Cooper, Gracie Moody, Casey Franklin (Tracey Meredith), Lincoln Chiles, Brentlee Chiles; and fifteen great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Adaptive Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
